*** AOL and Time Warner were finishing their infamous merger, one that would redraw the media landscape for decades to come. At the time, it was the largest corporate merger in American history.*** Al-Qaeda wrapped up its Kuala Lumpur Summit.*** Americans rushed to theaters to see Stuart Little and The Green Mile.*** Ralph Nader told CNN that his potential campaign would be based on the “interchangability” of the Democratic and Republican parties, and Al Gore and George W. Bush.*** The Tennessee Titans pulled off the “Music City Miracle,” one of the most improbable plays in NFL history, to beat the Buffalo Bills in the AFC playoffs.
And: I moved to New York City. As of today, I have lived here for nine years. My first night here, I drank at 7B and had someone tell me you weren’t a true New Yorker until you’d lived here five years. Once I reached five, they said 10. I think they just mean “not me.” Alas. Bottom’s up.
